Had made to order (thank you Alfio!) Tiramisu last night at close to 11pm. Needless to say, I was up most of the night. I knew what I was doing. It had fresh brewed coffee. But I wanted, I ate, I suffered. The perks of being an adult. I am still dragging but managed to turn two drafts into two finished pieces and get the kitchen cleaned, so it was a double victory for me. It is beautiful today. 66 degrees and I have windows open of course! What else is going on? I watched Gatlopp (2022). I don't watch a lot of horror comedies. It is not my favorite sub genre but when it works, it works. The synopsis for Gatlopp: Four estranged friends reunite to play, Gatlopp, a drinking board game. They soon discover that they must complete the magical game before sunrise, or they will be doomed to play it for eternity. It stars Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy), Jim Mahoney (The Orville), Jon Bass (Miracle Workers), and Sarunas J. Jackson (Good Trouble). Even at 120 minutes, it was a smooth watch and I found myself laughing a bit. It reminded me of Jumanji, which I have yet to see. But with a darker tone. I enjoyed all the characters except for the ones I suppose you were meant to think were trash and they were. Definitely more comedy than horror but maybe that is why it worked?
Work is quiet this evening so I’ve been graced with moments to collect my thoughts in regard to my current project. I already know the themes but am looking at the pieces more like paintings (thanks to Gertrude), see if I spot any motifs if you will. And create my own metaphors. Nothing forced. If it does not come organically, I will leave it alone. Took a look at more women surrealist painters and wanted to share a couple of pieces by Katherine Linn Sage before I go. Have a good evening!
I watched that film last year! It was quite fun.
