Happy Friday all! Hope the week has treated you well. The days are still going by too quickly for me. My writing has been up and down. Lately, I've been more inspired to write new pieces when I am at work and edit when I'm at home. I think it's still because I am not used to sharing space again and am easily distracted, ha! Was reading a little more about Alda Merini and learned a new word, palimpsest. palimpsest (n.) "parchment from which earlier writing has been removed to clear it for new writing," 1660s, from Latin palimpsestus, from Greek palimpsestos "scraped again," from palin "again, back" (from PIE *kwle-i-, suffixed form of root *kwel- (1) "revolve, move round'" PIE *kw- becomes Greek p- before some vowels) + verbal adjective of psēn "to rub smooth," which is of uncertain origin. Related: Palimpsestic. It prompted an idea but I have to shelf it for now. I need to stay focused on what is on the platter in front of me. I tend to collect too many side plates and get overwhelmed or drop everything. I have nine months to complete this project and will. I've been training my form as I continue to write on envelopes, index cards, and sometimes Post-it notes. I think that is important, for what I am working on. It forces me to write things out or break things at the weakest spot, which seems to be the end or a few sentences before. After this post I will return to something I scribbled out on a couple of envelopes. Here's the first line: She will rummage through her drawers--will search for your baby teeth. Hope you've enjoyed today's post. Hope you've found pleasure in something this week. A book, a song, something that caught your eye.
