Happy Halloween
Scraped frost off the car windows this morning. Wasn’t ready for that. Ha! Dropped my daughter off at school and came home to prep my Mujadara the base of which is lentils, rice, caramelized onions, fresh garlic and then of course I had to throw in a bit of ham hock, which I usually don't add but I was feeling my roots. I then went to the thrift store to look for Halloween pajamas. I failed but did find a Nordicware Bundt Mini Loaf pan for $4.50. Just in time for the holidays. By the time I left again it was snowing and I wanted to throw the morning away. Just kidding. Midwest living is all. I will throw on my Michael Myers t-shirt, some flannel pajama bottoms and call it a day. I wanted to write something spooky today, but I feel like the day is slipping by. I do have a micro I was working on about a bedtime story. I think I can do something with it. I read a lot at work yesterday since the evenings have been so quiet. What I printed out to read today: Defining the Short Story: Impressionism and Form: Suzanne C. Ferguson Sentences on a Glass House and Other Sentences: Nora Wendl What Makes a Very Short Story Very Short?: William Nelles Work is quiet again, but I am glad for it. I never forget that when it is quiet that means: 1. No drama amongst the residents or co-workers 2. Our residents are okay. No falls, no illnesses, no deaths. I tried to do a little bit of editing on a little piece only to find I’d written it when my heart was in the right place but not aligned with anything else. I tried to rearrange some of the lines and finally decided to strike it through and leave it on the bottom of the page where it will be pushed down into obscurity by other drafts of other pieces. R.I.P.
