I was watching a YT video about I Know What You Did Last Summer. You probably know by now that I am unapologetically a horror nerd. And he was talking about a character that has a connection to Helen Shivers, a very particular connection. And my immediate thought was, “younger sister?” and started crunching numbers as I wondered if The Shivers had another daughter after losing TWO in one movie, and I thought, "a grief baby?”
I don’t know why that phrase came up or if that is even something that happens outside of film. But as I am typing, I am thinking about certain horror movies. I mean actually the OG (for me.) Don’t Look Now, 1973) with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie, and that scene. And I can’t recall anyone reaching for a condom. Or are we just to assume that no one gets pregnant during those types of scenes in horror movies because it’s about the moment, not the outcome. Movie magic, filmic flim-flam.
It happens a lot in horror and usually at the WORST of times.
But all of that just to say, I am amused by the way my mind moves sometimes.
