I have been in a bit of a fog as of late. Mornings swallowed up in what has now been three days of cloudiness. I guess my mood matches the weather?
Yesterday, I finished one slasher, Fire Island and started a werewolf movie, Wolf Manor. I really wanted to enjoy the first one more. I appreciated some of the kills, loved the setting and most of the casting, but in this day in age, I who have watched way too many horror movies, am a writer, and actually shot a full-length (not horror) with my husband, I have a high bar for horror. There isn’t room for unoriginality in this genre or reason for it, because horror is subjective. Horror has to fight harder to be accepted in the film world. Only three actors have even one an Oscar for a horror performance and only one film that has won an Oscar, The Silence of the Lambs. I am tired of mediocre remakes especially when they are so many books that could be adapted if one doesn’t have an original story to tell. Anyway, I digress. Wolf Manor is a shade better. I love werewolves but not so much horror comedy, with some exceptions. There are some cool references to other werewolf movies; the plot was good and the special effects, also good. But the acting was dull and the comedy didn’t work in most spots. I will try to finish it but today, I am editing for a bit and then will go pick up a bottle of Limoncello for my husband who has a birthday today.
Now that I’ve hopped onto my Writing horse, (ha!) I hope to stay on it for a while.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy birthday to your husband! And I hope you feel some relief soon.
