anniversary c. 1200, "year-day, annual return of a certain date in the year," originally especially of the day of a person's death or a saint's martyrdom. Yesterday was our 15th wedding anniversary but it may have as well been our 50th and I mean that in the best of ways. There is something about coming from places not of love, seeing the worst of love and people. Finding true love and having to fight for hit. Realigning the stars to fit your destiny, that really helps you appreciate it and each other. Anomalies raised in different times, more than 5,000 miles apart and here we are, here we love. I’ve written about us in many pieces, but would you believe I have only written him one poem and I believe that was last year? Ha! But of course, I’ve written him notes and letters (instead of cards.) And it was a handwritten note consisting of two words, (not what you think!) written in a pack of cigarettes that really peaked his interest in me and the idea of us and the rest? History. As I’m writing this, I remembered my piece, Kenmore Street that Pidgeonholes published, and will post the link below, please give it a read. It's the inspiration for the prompt below.and check the rest of the publication out! Kenmore Street PROMPT: Write to the one who has/had your heart. But focus on a moment, a scene. Do you remember when that something just clicked? Was it a phrase? A look? A story shared? However, if you are not leaning on the side of sentimentality, write a piece about the moment you knew it was over. Here is the first stanza of Adrienne Rich's, Like This Together: Wind rocks the car. We sit parked by the river, silence between our teeth. Birds scatter across islands of broken ice. Another time I’d have said “Canada geese,” knowing you love them. A year, ten years from now I’ll remember this— this sitting like drugged birds in a glass case— not why, only that we were here like this together.

this is so beautiful ❤️ and what a lovely prompt!
I'm enamored with your gorgeous piece. "We shared the songs that first introduced us to love, the songs that mimicked our heartbreak and still hummed once we were happy. But that night we fought to hold on to a spell we knew worked only on paper or in prayer." !!! That is so evocative and magical. Happy Anniversary to you both. And here's to more happy, loving years!
