Woke to rain and stiffness. It was a short weekend because I worked at our restaurant Saturday. We were really busy thanks to a T*k T*k post my daughter made. Never thought I’d be typing that, but it was a Hail Mary and it woke up a lot of people. Its scary how many people said they lived in the neighborhood walked past our place dozens of times and did not notice us? We have a sign, lights, visuals. Someone thought it was still the Harold’s Chicken Shack! We have been there for 9 months. What does that say about us? Our inattention or absorption or distraction? Or, what is the polar opposite of curiosity, apathy? The good thing is, they come, they eat, and our happy.
At any rate, today is here. Another day to conquer. I was going through a folder under my desk and found quite a few pieces I’d written when we lived in Sicily, when I first started working at the Supportive Living Home, and a piece based of a Weldon Kees poem that I will post below. I am actually working on that one because it is short and would still work in my potential book.
Baked chocolate chip biscotti and an Olive Oil Banana Cake for the restaurant yesterday. Today, I bought a frozen pizza, ha! Am cooked out.
