January 20th already. It is 10 degrees here, -2 with the windchill. I love my Midwest, I do. Glad to be off today. I did my usual chores, baked my Olive Oil Banana Cake, and will shortly make Italian Fig Cookies for the first time.
I am currently listening to episodes of Death in Paradise and reading old issues of, Hanging Loose. Right now, I am hanging out in 2006 and reading pieces from Indran Amirthanayagam’s The Splintered Face: Tsunami Poems. So good. I am trying to give myself more space to read, to sit still. Not just when I am on the train or even at the restaurant, but home. I’d gotten away from that. Next, William Corbett, and the first piece entitled, My Mother Pregnant has given me pause. I love when reading feeds your writing, don’t you?
But first, I have six more index cards to work through. *Focus*
Sounds like a lovely day. I really want to try this Olive Oil Banana Cake.
