Spent a lot of Saturday evening editing while watching Truth Will Out, a Swedish detective show (subtitled), and reading more about Gertrude Abercrombie. Come to find out I knew about her a lot earlier than I’d realized. Back when I’d first discovered James Purdy. Heck, his last novel was Gertrude of Stony Island Avenue. Which I have, which I’ve read. My mind was obviously in a different space then. But that is okay. I will of course, have to re-read it because I remember nothing about it. I haven’t read anything of length for quite some time. Just writing and writing and reading Flash, poetry, newsletters.
I am about to rearrange my board. Can’t really call it a vision board because I hardly look to it for inspiration or mood board for the same reason and also because I tend to use music to set my writing mood. But I do tend to randomly peep at it and would like something to catch my eye, make me smile? Perhaps it will focus on the writing project I committed myself to for the year?
An Evocation Board?
evocation (n.) a calling or bringing forth from concealment… Evocatio was used of the Roman custom of petitioning the gods of an enemy city to abandon it and come to Rome…
Yes. I like it.
Those are awesome, ambient paintings! Makes me think of some point-and-click games like The Cat Lady (it's a bit darker in tone).
