1/25/23 On my fourth day of back pain which again meant not too much sitting. Unless I wanted to carry around a dull ache that made me bend ever so slightly. Now the back pain is coupled with a headache so I walked around in kind of a haze and felt like everything was more fluid. Even the pain. I baked Thumbprint cookies for the first time using an Apricot jam. The dough was so soft and delicate I was sure I’d done something wrong though the recipe was so scant there was nowhere to mess up. The cookies turned out just as delicate. Almond kissed, Apricot tart and the residents loved them and in the end that is what matters. I edited a few pieces. Didn’t write anything new because it was hard to focus. I missed the comfort of sitting. Standing only worked for so long and then I’d felt like I had to go somewhere you know? I did sale a book, through no effort of mine, The Castles Of Wales 1/26/23 The headache that I had for more than 24 hours is gone and the back pain is waning. I have jotted out a micro based off a tweet I saw this morning and will add below if I can find it. I also wrote a piece based off I don’t know what but the first line is: I am constantly trying to write about love. Today, I am going to make a Caramelized Cabbage Butter Pasta for lunch and I am so excited. I love cabbage. I could eat it every day. At least five days a week. Ha! I’m excited. It is so relieving to not be in a fog of pain. How are you? What have you been writing? Who are you reading?

Love the description of the cookies--I can almost taste them.
I’ve also been experiencing some back pain and have some new stretches to try.
I’m reading Deep South Dispatch: Memoir of a Civil Rights Journalist by John N. Herbers; Persuasion by Jane Austen; and Mississippi in Africa: The Saga of the Slaves of Prospect Hill Plantation and Their Legacy in Liberia by Alan Huffman. I find it odd that I can be reading several books at the same time...something I never could do in the past.
