As you may or may not know by now I am a Horror lover. It is my favorite genre right up there with Mystery. I blame my dad, who took me to see Jaws when I was young enough for him to hold me up as a shield for the gory parts, ha!
Yesterday, I took a writing break to re-watch The Beast Must Die. This is actually billed as a horror/mystery. It is also has my favorite subgenre I call, And Then There Were None. If you know Christie, you know it. If not, think Knives Out or The Thing. I wrote up a piece that I never submitted. Perhaps I will post it here at a later date.
Anyway, the cast includes Peter Cushing, Calvin Lockhart, Marlene Clark, and Michael Gambon and is quite fun. I mean, there is even a Werewolf Break! It is not super gory and could be seen as borderline cheesy, but I love cheese as long as there is a plot.
A line:
Jan Jarmokowski
[Holding silver candlestick] Why don’t we pass this around? If one of us does drop dead, we can continue our weekend in peace.
I am tweaking a horror micro, 99 words on the theme of Spring. I feel like it falls into the feel of The Beast Must Die. More dark humor than anything. I giggled to myself as I read the last two lines. That is a good sign.
I hope your week has treated you well. That the weather is breaking as it should wherever you are. I took a walk and missed a downpour. That is a good sign I think.
