Working
and working (Micro-Post)
Day before Mother’s Day and I am glad the first part of it was sunshine, belied by a FRESH breeze we didn’t notice until we were about 5 miles from home on the bike. I was glad that I decided on my puffer jacket though I also wished I’d worn a sweatshirt rather than tee.
But it was beautiful. No matter how many miles I’ve ridden as passenger, I am always in awe of the open sky or clouds. The birds, always the birds. Saw a Great Blue Heron landing and I know they are big, but wow!
And somehow both clunky (crooked neck/long legs) and graceful, (everything else) but mostly the latter.
Picked up a little something for my mother, we had grocery store sushi and sweet tea for a snack, treated myself to a canister of Kimbo Decaf, because…MOTHER’S DAY. (Ha!) and then promptly came home so I could re-dye my hair, black, black baby. Leaving the natural skunk patch in my bang and wanted to do one last edit on this Chicago piece before submitting to POETRY Magazine, when I saw that the call called for 2-6 poems. So, I am now working on the piece that I thought may be too dark and will hopefully have it done by the 5/15 deadline.
I’ve also been working on quite a few “mother” pieces. I suppose I will forever be working out my issues in this way. When in May…
